Everything Everywhere All at Once arrasa en los Independent Spirit Awards 2023

La cuenta regresiva por los Premios Oscar se encuentra en la recta final, pero antes de entregar los máximos galardones del séptimo arte, las producciones independientes también celebraron sus propios premios. Esta noche se entregaron los Independent Spirit Awards, los galardones que premian las mejores producciones del cine independiente y la televisión. 

Este año Everything Everywhere All at Once (Todo en todas partes al mismo tiempo) se convirtió en una de las grandes ganadoras de la noche. La película insignia de la productora A24 tenía 8 nominaciones y se quedó con 7 estatuillas, incluyendo Mejor película, Mejor dirección y Mejor actuación protagónica para Michelle Yeoh. La cinta Aftersun de Charlotte Wells se quedó con el galardón a Mejor ópera prima. En tanto, Tár, que tenía 7 nominaciones, solo logró el premio a Mejor fotografía.

Una de las particularidades de la actual edición fue la neutralidad en las categorías actorales. Durante años los premios apostaron a premiar las mejores actuaciones protagónicas y secundarias en sus respectivas ramas femeninas y masculinas. Este año, los intérpretes compitieron como iguales, resultando uno el ganador de cada terna. Ke Huy Quan se quedó con el premio a Mejor actuación secundaria por su rol en Everything Everywhere All at Once.
